The former NFL and Cleveland Browns executive will now oversee league communications and club consulting and will continue the duties in business and media operations he has held as senior executive vice president since 2007. Sharks RW Clowe agrees to 1 year, $1.6M (AP)
Right wing Ryane Clowe agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million contract to stay with the San Jose Sharks on Monday. Clowe was a restricted free agent after scoring eight points in 15 games last season. He missed 67 games after undergoing surgery on his right knee, but returned with four games left in the regular season before scoring nine points in 13 playoff games.
Wings sign McCrimmon, MacLean to staff (AP)
The Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings added Brad McCrimmon to their coaching staff Monday and re-signed assistant Paul MacLean. McCrimmon spent four seasons as an assistant in Atlanta after previous stints with Calgary and the New York Islanders. The former defenseman played 18 seasons in the NHL, including three with Detroit in the early 1990s.

Antoine Vermette signed a $5.25 million, two-year contract extension with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday after a season in which he had career highs in goals and points. He earned nearly $1.1 million last year. Vermette had 24 goals and 53 points while appearing in 81 games last season. He was among the league leaders with a 57 percent faceoff win rate.
